In order to honour this, CASTELBAJAC Paris fashion house has designed a new look for the iconic Karite collection that symbolises values embedded in each product. They convey a powerful message: the collection is a result of partnership which was established in 1980 between L’OCCITANE and the women of Burkina Faso, based on the principles of fair trade.

In 2006, this partnership was further strengthened by establishing L’OCCITANE’s Foundation that promotes the independence of women in Burkina Faso. In the very beginnings, there were only ten Burkinan women who were making karite butter. Today, there are more than 10.000 women involved in the production of karite shea butter.
